The F.B.I. report “2008 Crime in the United States” reveals that crime in America has steadily been decreasing across all categories except one: burglary. ”Nationwide, burglaries were the only property crime to show an increase (up 1.3 percent)”
The “2006 Crime in the United States” report defines burglary as the unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or theft. To classify an offense as a burglary, the use of force to gain entry need not have occurred. The Program has three subclassifications for burglary: forcible entry, unlawful entry where no force is used, and attempted forcible entry. The UCR definition of “structure” includes, for example, apartment, barn, house trailer or houseboat when used as a permanent dwelling, office, railroad car (but not automobile), stable, and vessel (i.e., ship).
Overview
- In 2006, there were an estimated 2,183,746 burglary offenses-an increase of 1.3 percent when compared with 2005 data.
- An examination of 5- and 10-year trends revealed an increase of 1.5 percent in the number of burglaries when compared with the 2002 estimate and a decline of 11.2 percent when compared with the 1997 estimate.Â
- Burglary accounted for 21.9 percent of the estimated number of property crimes committed in 2006. Â
- In 2006, burglary offenses cost victims an estimated $4 billion in lost property.Â
- The average dollar loss per burglary offense in 2006 was $1,834.
- Of the burglary offenses in 2006, 66.2 percent were of residential structures.Â
- Of the burglaries for which the time of occurrence was known, 63.1 percent of residential burglaries took place during the day.
- Among burglaries of nonresidential structures when time of occurrence was known, 56.7 percent occurred at night.
Another interesting statistic was reported in the New York Times on 8/27/07 in a story entitled “Cellphone-Only Homes Hit a Milestone” by Alex Mindlin:
“From September 2006 to April 2007, the percentage of Americans in cellphone-only households for the first time overtook the percentage in landline-only households, according to Mediamark Research, a firm that has been tracking such data since the mid-1980s. Mediamark said 84.5 percent of households now have landlines, and 86.2 percent have at least one cellphone. Andy Arthur, the study’s author and an analyst with Mediamark, said the number of households with landlines would probably continue to decrease.” In another Times article ["Snip!Nearly One-Fifth of Homes Have no Landline" 9/17/08,Saul Hansell] it’s reported that by the end of 2008 20percent of households may not have a home phone line. This is estimated to rise to 27percent by 2010.
Burglar Alarm Systems are the best way of preventing burglaries and protecting your family and property and are a proven deterrent. Statistics show that 60% of attempted burglaries carried out on homes with burglar alarms fitted are unsuccessful. Burglar alarms are valuable weapons in the fight against crime.
Burglar alarm systems that incorporate home monitoring are most effective since they not only scare burglars off but call out for help as well. This type of comprehensive system generally relies on landline phones for support. The steady decrease in the number of households with landlines implies that an increasing number of homes are deprived of the potential benefits of comprehensive burglar alarm protection. This trend has given rise to the development of Wireless GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) Alarm Systems. Modern Wireless GSM Alarm Systems offer comprehensive and expandable burglar protection without the necessity of a landline; with the use of a SIM card from a cellular carrier they allow your burglar alarm to call out for help through the cellular networks.
In Conclusion, for an increasing majority of households who now exclusively use cellphones, comprehensive burglar deterrence is now available with Wireless GSM Alarm Systems.

Everyone knows a Bulldog when they see it. The Bulldog has long been the symbol of the Mack truck. The company earned its nickname during World War I when the British government bought the Mack AC model in order to supply troops, food and equipment to its soldiers on the front line. Those British soldiers named the truck the Bulldog Mack due to the flat nosed hood which reminded them of the British mascot which was the British Bulldog. Since then the Bulldog has been a trucking industry favorite.
Today this is one of the leading truck manufacturing companies in the world. Now a subsidiary of Volvo, the company headquarters are located in Allentown, Pennsylvania in the United States. Primary manufacturing facilities for Mack trucks are located in Macungie, Pennsylvania and in Dublin, Virginia. The company today enjoys being one of the top producers of vocational vehicles from Class eight through Class thirteen. It also produces off road trucks. The Bulldog logo is very distinctive on the front of each truck.
Mack trucks have been sold throughout the company’s history in a total of forty-five countries. Right hand driven vehicles are currently produced in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and are distributed worldwide. Plants are also located in Caracas, Venezuela as well as Hagerstown, Maryland in the United States. These trucks hold the distinction of being one of the most popularly driven heavy duty trucks on the road due to their longevity and dependability.
It was early in the 1960s that the then executive vice president of engineering, Walter May developed the Maxidyne high-torque rise engine which has given Mack trucks much of their rise to popularity. The engine was first evident in 1968 with the new line of trucks. The placement of the Maxidyne engine became an event that would change the trucking industry forever. The engine allowed for a heavy duty Class 8 truck to be operated with a 5 speed transmission. Before this time heavy duty trucks held 10 gears or more. The development of the Maxidyne engine became one of the most popular aspects of the Mack truck and drivers everywhere were soon anxious to drive one of these miracle trucks. Since that time the company has enjoyed being one of the most popularly chosen truck brands of all time. Given the history behind their logo it is not surprising that this tough competitor has outlasted many others.

Dogs can’t digest corn and it has petroliem products in it, as in the same stuff they make gasoline out of. Dogs can live 20 or more years, but they don’t because the food they eat slowly poisions them. Any way sorry to go off on a tangent, I just passionate about taking car of our dogs the right way.
