Dachshund puppies are very entertaining! They come in standard and miniature size (11 pounds or less, plus 11 pounds but most of the rules are about 20 pounds). They also come in three different layers: Wirehair, long straight hair. Lisa is easier to care for long hair usually do not have much hair, and I do not think require excessive grooming. There are many, many good grooming videos and books and depending on where you live maybe even a class. Although you should definitely get your poodle used to being handled and groomed, there are so many dangers when working with live animals you should do a lot of research and proceed w/ caution. There is too much to learn about grooming a poodle to learn it in a post. Good luck!
Let me just add that there are certain blades that are safer to start with than others. You may want to start just by doing the pads not the whole paw until your comfortable. You are talking about some dangerous areas to clip as a novice. Take your dog to a groomer while you are learning.
