Golden Retriever puppies have poor bladder control which leads to frequent accidents when he is still new to your home. You cannot punish him for it because he will not understand. Potty training requires lots of understanding and patience which will lead to positive results.
Designate a potty spot in the yard for your pup even before you take him home. Before he comes inside the house, take him to his potty zone and wait for 20 minutes until he eliminates. Praise him and take him inside.
Be alert to his signs to prevent accidents inside the home. If you notice him uneasy, circling around and sniffing on the ground, take him to his potty spot right away. If he goes to the toilet inside the house, make sure to clean his mess right away and use water and vinegar solution to keep the odor away. When your dog eliminates, he secretes a foul smelling scent along with it which marks that area. He may go back to the same spot if he is able to recognize the same smell.
Make sure you establish a routine when you teach your dog potty training. You can create a schedule and post it on the fridge to keep everyone reminded of their task The schedule should include his potty breaks for every two hours, the moment he wakes up, after his meals and water, after play and nap, and before he goes to bed. Make sure everyone commits to walking the dog on his scheduled potty breaks to avoid accidents inside the home.
If you caught him in the act, command with a stern “No” to stop him. Immediately take him to his potty spot. Do not spank your dog or rub his face on the mess as he may become fearful and commit more accidents due to his fear.
Give him time to adjust. Some dogs learn potty training in just two weeks and some may require a longer time. The important thing is to be consistent with rules, schedules and commands to help him adapt easily and learn potty training faster.
Do not forget to praise and reward your dog for acting right. This is to help the dog associate rewards with good behavior and to mold him in doing the same right behavior. A little dry kibble or toy may work for a young pup, but affection, approval and praises will be very much appreciated.

Dogs can’t digest corn and it has petroliem products in it, as in the same stuff they make gasoline out of. Dogs can live 20 or more years, but they don’t because the food they eat slowly poisions them. Any way sorry to go off on a tangent, I just passionate about taking car of our dogs the right way.
